Florida Statehood Year - 1845
This is a schooner cross-stitch chart which features the year Florida became a state in 1845. This is an easy pattern for beginners, and would make a great choice for Girl Scouts, 'young pioneer' students or summer camp crafts.
Sail Fish
This original design features the Atlantic Sailfish, which also serves as the 'state fish' for the State of Florida. When completed this would make a great gift for fisher'people' or decorating your own home!

Welcome to
The Stitching Place !

We offer a unique collection of 'living history' crafts and projects for people of all ages. This month's featured collection is a series of all 'original' cross-stitch sampler design charts, called "The Florida Heritage Series". These samplers all have a theme centered around important historical peoples and events from days gone by...including Indian temple mound builders, Gulf Coast pirates, Florida statehood, Civil War (Confederate camp) and Pensacola lighthouse. All of our original cross-stitch chart designs include large full-color patterns on marked graph grids--much easier to use than standard small black and white symbol charts, especially for beginners. Click on our Instructions button on this home page, and you can read/print out "Learn to Cross-Stitch in 5 Minutes" simple crafter's instructions. The best part about our products compared to others on-line, is that they are all "instantly" downloadable--why wait on snail mail shipping when you can begin stitching today!

New Feature! Handcrafted Florida Heritage Dolls
We are located in the heart of the sunny 'panhandle' of Florida, affectionately known as "The Emerald Coast" by the local folks. While cleaning up all of our woodland debris from Hurricane Ivan, we decided that we really ought to 'recycle' some of our beautiful live oak and palmetto wood...and we were 'inspired' to begin our newest 'living history' craft project--vintage Seminole Indian style 'folk art' dolls. To learn more about our inspirations for these colorful folk art dolls (and our descendant 'disclosures'), please be sure to visit "About Us" by clicking on the link button on this page.
